THE COOLPOCKETS STORY

This is a documentary on a young latino 2nd generation of Puerto Rican/Mexican decent born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and his direct impact on Pop Culture with street dance and music.

 

Recording Artist/Street Dancer Paul 'COOLPOCKETS" Guzman-Sanchez

In the mid 70's Paul was apart of the street dance group CHAIN REACTION a dance group from the San Fernando Valley that would become the first street dance group to do the dances Locking in a major motion picture. Paul would go on to become a percussionist in his brothers band Chain Reaction Band signed to Elecktra Asylum Records in 85 and then resigned again in 1990 as Rhythm Tribe playing their fathers family puerto Rican influence style music.

 

He is apart of American Pop Music Culture and Urban Dance History. His performances in major motion pictures, music videos, commercials, and TV have directly affected generations of major label recording artist from Michael Jackson to Rod Stewart.

 

Director, Choreographer, Kenny Ortega hired COOLPOCKETS along with his dance group Chain Reaction in 79 to perform in the movie Xanadu with Gene Kelly and Olivia Newton John and in the 80's Paul was hired by Kenny Ortega for all of his MTV projects for of his cutting edge street dance style.

This documentary is a one of a kind in the world of music and dance covering a timeline from 1973 to present day times with rare behind the scenes footage performing in music video's, TV, and Movies. Paul dips into his own personal home movie archives with never before scene footage of COOLPOCKETS dancing.

This documentary will enlighten the world to his accomplishments and the impact that he has personally made on Pop Culture as we know it today. 

The documentary started in 2016 and is produced, directed, filmed and edited by Paul 'COOLPOCKETS" Guzman-Sanchez, assisting camera man his son Brandon Guzman-Sanchez who is an experienced cameraman himself.

The documentary is a life lived locked in the history of American Pop Culture. It's time the world learns about his story and the impact on world stage.
